Case Studies

Logo Boat

During the 2013-2014 school year, I realized a job that allowed me to explore many aspects
of the work of webdesigner. I'll present it as a case study for you to understand how I work.

First Step

Four people, one project

Team Pentathlon
The topic

Initially we were a group of four people and we decided to make a guide for Youtube users.

The basics

In this first phase, we set the foundation for our project. We decided that our target audience is teenagers and young adults and therefore that the tone used should be friendly and fun. We put our heads together and agreed to choose different topics and advise users to make a better use of Youtube. This time we had not yet decided on the graphic aspects, we focused on the content. We made some sketches and we took a lot of notes.

Second Step

Two people, one project

Wireframes

In the second phase of the project, our team is divided into two in order to think about the visual aspects of the site. Based on the sketches, we made some wireframes.

Our structure is based on three parts: the first contains the logo and menu, the second contains the positive side ( left ) and the last contains the negative side (right). We chose to devote a section and two advises (one negative and one positive) for each subject. We expect to use background images.

Third Step

One people, one project

Styletiles

From now, I have to work alone and think about the design. To help me to make a choice, our teacher asked us to make styletiles to compare different styles.

Styleguide

After choosing the best styletile, I made a styleguide to summarize the information about the design.

Fourth Step

The grid

Now that I had all the information about what my site will look like, I had to place all the elements on a grid.

Fifth Step

The website

The final step of this work is to create a website with all ressources that I collected before.

Website Pentathlon

The website is unfortunately not responsive but works fine on desktop. I hope that Youtube users will do a better job now !
